Islamic Republic of Iran has increased public enforcement of sentences in recent years, to make an example of criminals and thus reduce the crime in society. However, critics believe this method can result in irreversible social and cultural harms.
Mohabat News -- The photos below show a convict being whipped in public in city in Iran. Such scenes are seen more often these days in Iranian cities. However, statistics do not seem to show any decrease in crimes committed in Iran.
